A lazy cruise along the Mekong River is a must. While drifting down the Mekong on a slow boat journey to Luang Prabang, there is a stop in particular not to be missed.
I like to think of this attraction as being equally about the journey and the destination.
The Pak Ou Caves reside upriver from Luang Prabang in a cliff above the water. Over the course of several years, the Buddha images left behind have added up. Today, the cave is filled with thousands of serenely smiling Buddha images varying in sizes and styles. This cave was like a paradise to me since I am so in love with Buddha images. The shadows and silhouettes of the Buddha statues enveloped my surroundings as I explored and observed almost each and every one of them.
