As I was just about to reach Florence, I made the infamous stop in Pisa first. There really wasn’t too much in Pisa besides the leaning tower. Of course there were souvenir shops around, but when I looked around there was really nothing else to the town of Pisa.
Once I made it to Florence, I uncovered the city by learning about its cultural beginnings and streets crammed with art from masters like Michelangelo. I watched a skillful demonstration of Florentine leather-making to understand more about the traditional art. I grabbed some gelato and just enjoyed walking around this gorgeous city.
In the evening, we all went out for an authentic Tuscan feast. It was so decadent trying regional dishes right in the heart of Florence. There were bottles upon bottles of red and white wine on the table. Everyone preferred white wine over red wine, so the entire bottle of red wine was left for me. After dinner we kept it moving with a night out at Florence’s biggest Discotheque. I’m glad I had a fair bit of wine beforehand as it was a pretty wild club, wet T-shirt contests and all . . .
